Charles B Funk- L’Usine à Jazz + L’Apprenti
Charles B Funk articulates the dark, psychedelic power of Charles Baudelaire's poetry with the power of funk and related music, including hip hop. The powerful rhythms of Baudelaire's verses, chiselled by the Apprentice, a rapper-narrative artist with a magnetic stage presence, and sung by a high-flying vocal trio, are carried by a Big Band set to contemporary, mixed and dark funk. Karim Maurice's compositions blend electro and black music influences, from gospel to hip hop, united in their tension towards trance. Never before has Baudelaire been so contemporary: the spirit of Les Fleurs du Mal resonates with the 21st century, as does his abundant music and his spleen, that of a bruised, uncertain world... and hungry for hope.
Charles B Funk - Creation for big band, rapper and three singers, based on poems by Charles Baudelaire. Composition and musical direction: Karim Maurice. Narrator: L'Apprenti / Vocals : Anaïs Laugier (Aamiral), Antoine Angelloz and Laëtitia Hulewicz / Big Band : l'Usine à Jazz (Stefan Landis, Jean-Baptiste Drevet, Laurent Bernard, Thierry Charbit, Arnaud Ruffin, Christophe Giroud, Dominique Gillet, Olivier Maupas, François Carrel, Yannick Malot, Régis Degroisse, Félicie Gouyer, René-Pierre Jullien-Palletier, Jérémie Bouchet, Pierre-Yves Soppet, Serge Stella, Sébastien Donnadille and Lalie Michalon).
