Orange Blossom
You can't put Orange Blossom in a box even if it contains the world, because Orange Blossom goes far beyond “world music”. Electro then? Ditto. Orange Blossom is the vision of Carlos Robles Arenas, a Mexican composer based in Nantes who has drawn on Turkish, Egyptian, Malian, Senegalese and Cuban traditions, with voices sung in Arabic, Persian and Portuguese, to offer the world a fourth album of contemporary music that is both clear and mysterious. Luring us like a siren's song, these thirteen new tracks from the last ten years straddle the line between a raging dance floor and a meditation room without a hint of contradiction. If beauty had a soundtrack, it would have pieces of Orange Blossom in it.
