PETER HOOK & THE LIGHT extend their massive run of worldwide dates this year with the announcement of an additional tour of Spain and France in March 2025, during which the band will perform Joy Division and New Order's Substance albums in their entirety. These new dates follow tours of Australia, New Zealand, South America and North America in 2024, as well as a UK and Ireland tour next month.The two Substance compilation albums were released in 1987 and 1988 by Factory Records. New Order's was released first, and contained all the singles up to that date, including Blue Monday, Bizarre Love Triangle, Temptation, Shellshock and True Faith. It was designed by Factory boss Tony Wilson so that he could listen to the tracks on his car's CD player, and was Factory Records' 200th album. It remains New Order's best-selling album.
Released the following year, Joy Division's Substance contains singles that didn't appear on either of their albums, including Transmission, Love Will Tear Us Apart and Atmosphere, as well as tracks from the An Ideal For Living EP and the Factory Records sampler. The album begins with Warsaw and Leaders Of Men and follows the band's development through to Digital and Dead Souls. This is the 250th release on Factory Records.
